Exploring the Bingi Bingi Point headland, I photographed the colour and texture around me – lichen on rocks, sand and shells, rockpools and plant-life. I abstracted the images into kaleidoscopes using photo software.
The reflecting segments form captivating patterns with vibrant colours. The patterns trigger interesting associations like faces or animals. The abstracts retain enough of their originality that, once revealed, help the viewer wonder at the raw beauty of our coastal environment.
